Demographic Profile of North West Delhi:
North West Delhi is one of the 9 districts of the state of Delhi. It is bordered by the Yamuna River on the northeast, West Delhi to the south, North Delhi to the east and southeast, Jhajjar District of Haryana to the west, Sonipat District of Haryana to the northwest and north and Bagpat District and Ghaziabad District of Uttar Pradesh to the northeast across the Yamuna river.
The total area of North West Delhi is around 442.84 square kilometers.
As per the official census of 2011, the total population of North West Delhi is 3,656,539. The population growth has been 27.81%. The population density is 8,298 people per square kilometer. The sex ratio is 862 females per 1000 males and the overall literacy rate is 84.66%.

The administrative duties and responsibilities like issue of statuary documents, conduct of elections, magisterial matters, land acquisition, relief and rehabilitation, registration of property and revenue courts are managed by the Deputy Commissioner whose responsibility is to ensure the systematic and smooth running of the district. The Deputy Commissioner reports to the divisional commissioner. The head offices of the Deputy Commissioner and the additional District Magistrate of North West Delhi are located in Kanjhawala.

There is a wide access and good availability of hospitals and trauma centers in North West Delhi. There are a number of public as well as private hospitals in North West Delhi and the local and the poor people can get affordable treatment in public hospitals.

There are many public and private educational institutions which cater to the educational needs to the residents of North West Delhi. Some of schools are Bal Bharati Public School, Pitampura, DAV Public School, Mata Jai Kaur Public School and Darbari Lal D.A.V Model School. Some of the higher educational institutes and colleges are are Aditi Mahavidyalaya, Swami Shraddhanand College and Jagan Institute Of Management Studies.
Major Business and Shopping Centers:
There are various major business and shopping centers in North West Delhi. They are:
1) Rani Bagh – It is a mélange of street food carts, well-known eateries, and showrooms of every size from high end tailors and boutique showrooms.
2) Dilli Haat, Pitampura – Dilli Haat has 108 craft stalls along with Amphitheatre with a capacity of 450 persons, has conditioned halls for exhibitions, kitty parties conferences, seminars, workshop, school functions, performing art/ music and dance shows. In addition to regular activities, other festivals are also organized in Delhi Haat from time to time.
3) Metro Walk – It is located in Rohini Sector 10 adjacent to Rithala Metro Station. The mall and the amusement park were master planned by the Florida-based company Bose International. There are many stand alone restaurants as well as food court kiosks. The Adventure Island amusement park is spread over an area of 62 acres (250,000 square meters) and contains about 26 rides and attractions and a large lake acts as the separator between the mall building and the amusement park.
4) D mall and City Center – It is situated at a prominent location in North West Delhi, just besides Rohini West metro station, there are two eminent shopping hubs: D Mall and City Centre. The malls are built with adequate space and attract a lot of people daily.
Fairs and Festivals:
The most popular fairs and festivals in North West Delhi are Holi, Lohri, Durga Pooka, Ganesh Chaturthi, Dussehra and Diwali.
Sports and Recreation facilities:
There are some sports and recreational facilities in North West Delhi like Rohini Sports Complex, Rohini, Major Dhyan Chand Sports Complex, Ashok Vihar and Rashtriya Swabhiman Khel Parisar, Pitampura. There are also various amusement parks like Adventure Island, Karnal Water Park and Derby Devils.
Pulkit Samrat, a famous Indian actor is from Shalimar Bagh area of North West Delhi. Pulkit Sharma was born in 1983 and has acted in films like Fukrey.
